ANALOGICAL REASONING IN MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

چکیده
Objective
Cognitive impairment is common in multiple sclerosis
(MS) and occurs at all stages of the disease with
a significant negative effect on daily life activities,
 vocation, social relationships quality life.
 Analogical reasoning involves identifying common
relational system between two situations then
generating further inferences driven by these shared
 commonalities that fundamental aspect human
cognition people routinely use everyday life, a
 wide range problem-solving contexts decision
making. The aim study to evaluate analogical
 skills individuals with MS.
 Material Method
 This observational case-control covers 30
MS patients without any cognitive complaint and
 30 age-, sex- education-matched healthy
person. All participants were underwent thorough
 neuropsychological evaluation emphasis on
working memory, attention, executive functions concept formation analogical reasoning.
 Results
 patients’ performance memory,
 attention worse in
comparison control group. In general no
 difference was observed regarding formation,
 abstraction, flexibility healthy controls.
However advanced age exhibited poor tasks which also showed moderate correlation duration.
 Conclusion
dysfunction can be detected even MS
who are relatively young have low
 disability, complaints. Although
 early reserves sufficient for performance
similar controls, they show deterioration advancing age.

Logical and analogical reasoning are sometimes viewed as mutually exclusive alternatives, but formal logic is actually a highly constrained and stylized method of using analogies. Before any subject can be formalized to the stage where logic can be applied to it, analogies must be used to derive an abstract representation from a mass of irrelevant detail. After the formalization is complete, ev...

Analogy is a kind of similarity in which the same system of relations holds across different sets of elements. Analogies thus capture parallels across different situations. The elements that belong to the two situations need not be similar, but the relations that hold the systems together must be alike. However, as discussed below, analogical processing is easier if some concrete features are a...
